Bobby Flay and Giada de Laurentiis talk Italian food and more to Bobby and Giada in Italy

Celebrity chefs and longtime friends Bobby Flay and Giada de Laurentiis team up to explore Italian cuisine in the new Discovery Plus series Bobby and Giada in Italy.

The four-episode series debuted on the Discovery Plus streaming service on Monday, with People getting their first look at the show.

Beat star Bobby Flay, 56, and Giada at Home star, 50, have revealed how the show came together.

Flay revealed that he came up with the concept with the show and knew immediately he wanted de Laurentiis to be a part of it.

“We’re friends, obviously we both love Italy and we’re both on the same network, so it made perfect sense,” Flay revealed.

‘So that’s what we did. And I have to say I think it’s probably the most beautiful thing I’ve ever shot, for sure,” he added.

The friends spent a month traveling through Italy, with stops in Rome and Tuscany for the new series, which Flay said was a joy to film.

“I think you’re going to see an inherent happiness in both of us just to be there,” Flay said.

“You know, when you go to a place where you really like to be, your whole behavior is different. We were so much more relaxed and we were smiling a lot and just enjoying our surroundings,” he added.

Flay also raved about one of his favorite meals from their time in Tuscany, from his time on the show.

“One of the most classic Tuscan dishes is wild boar stew with pasta, so I like to do classic things for a place,” he said.

“The fact that I was making wild boar stew and fresh fettuccine in Tuscany – that for me is one of my aha moments. For me, this is a victory,” he added.

The show will also feature Giada’s mother, actress Veronica De Laurentiis, as they dined at Armando Al Pantheon in Rome.

They were served antipasto dishes: bruscetta, anchovy crostoni, zucchini flower and mozzarella cheese, and coratella (lamb).

Flay revealed that “the lamb is spicy”, although the zucchini, “might be my favorite”.

Giada added, “I really like beans,” while her 70-year-old mother added, “It’s not spicy or heavy. It’s very light.
