The 5th Italian Food Week showcases the delightful delight of extraordinary Italian cuisine prepared with premium ingredients

The Italian Embassy in Bangkok, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC), presents the 5th Italian Food Week, establishing a tasty territory in the heart of Bangkok.

The event venue brings together top Italian restaurants and authentic Italian ingredients for Thai people to savor. Celebrity chefs show up to prepare wonderful dishes in the atmosphere of concerts and Italian cultural performances at Quartier Avenue in The EmQuartier shopping center.

His Excellency Lorenzo Galanti, Italian Ambassador to Thailand said: “The week of Italian cuisine in the world has reached its fifth edition this year. Thailand may be the only country where we are able to hold this in-person event, as in most other countries online events will be the rule. Italian Food Week is dedicated this year to the celebration of 200 years since the birth of Pellegrino Artusi, the author of a very famous Italian cookbook that has become part of Italian literature. I’m glad that Italian food is quite popular in Thailand. Thailand, like my country, is a food-conscious nation with a very sophisticated notion of food and holds its own cuisine in high regard, while also having a great appreciation for certain foreign cuisines, such as Italian cuisine.

Health is an important dimension of food. If we are what we eat, then we can say with certainty that the Mediterranean diet is a model of balanced nutrition, included 10 years ago in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. Italy opposes any form of classification on the front of the packaging of food products which categorizes these products as healthy or unhealthy without any adequate scientific basis. These simplistic ways of labeling products risk unduly compromising the reputation of our most typical food products. At the same time, I would like to emphasize the importance of being able to distinguish, as a consumer, a real authentic Italian product from a product that is perhaps Italian in style, but not really Italian. This phenomenon that we call “Italian-sounding” is linked to intellectual property and consumer protection. We will continue to defend the importance of recognizing the authentic Italian product as part of our culture and as part of an honest relationship with consumers around the world.

The 5th Week of Italian Cuisine is a large annual fair. It is organized simultaneously in about 110 countries this year on the theme of “Piazza Delizioso”. In Thailand, the EmQuartier mall has been transformed into a square of delights where Thais can touch the charm and sample delicious dishes and high-end ingredients from Italy. The natural ingredients are wonderfully blended and become special dishes with pleasant tastes that have impressed people all over the world. This makes Italy the healthiest country in the world.

In addition, the event promotes and supports Italian restaurant operators in Thailand as well as high-end products from Italy. The event venue is divided into three areas, namely, Plaza, Markets and Town Square, which bring together dishes from many great Italian restaurants along with quality ingredients in an atmosphere of concerts and Italian culture to offer visitors authentic experiences of the charms of Italy. .

So many Italian restaurants are participating in this year’s event. Thea includes Appia, Duo Cucina, Favola at Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi, Nonna Nella de Lenzi, Opus Wine Bar and Restaurant, O Sole Mio, Paolo’s Deli and Peppina. Signature dishes include authentic pizzas and pastas, processed meats, sausages, premium charcuterie, truffles and cheeses as well as Italian drinks, desserts, coffees and Italian ice creams from renowned chefs creatively and meticulously prepare in Italian styles for visitors to try.
