With a plethora of restaurants and cafes in Delhi offering menus that seem to cover cuisines from all over the world, Delhi can easily be called the culinary capital of India. While the capital is home to a wide range of Chinese restaurants, one restaurant that stands out for its unique offering is ChaoBella. Located at Crowne Plaza Okhla, New Delhi, Chaobella is a dual restaurant in Delhi that offers Chinese and Italian cuisines under one roof. The restaurant features elegant decor with dim lighting, a brown-hued interior, and an open-air setting that gives off a luxurious and comfortable dining vibe.
We recently visited the restaurant to sample their new menu and were impressed with some of the dishes. A few of the new menu’s signature dishes included ‘Mushroom Mix’, ‘Water Chestnut and Asparagus Dimsum’, ‘Insalata Caprese’, ‘Prosciutto di Parma’ and more.
Food in ChaoBella
We started with ‘Amuche Bouche’ – a panna cotta with goat cheese and cranberry jelly served with a honey garlic sauce. Served on a tablespoon, it looked quite classy and just melted in our mouths.
We tried a wide range of Dimsums like ‘Hargao Shrimp’, ‘Chicken Jiaozi’, ‘Chicken Gyoza’, ‘Chicken Siu Mai’, ‘Vegetables and Crystal Chives’, ‘Water Chestnut and Asparagus’, and more. We recommend the ‘Jiaozi Chicken’ and the ‘Chicken Siu Mai’ as we believe it offers the right flavors that will suit the Indian palate. And if you like seafood, the ‘Prawn Hargao’ is a must! Also, the dips served with the dimsums complimented the whole package. Another seafood dish that we really enjoyed was ‘Prawn Thukpa’. With the right mix of ramen-like spices, this soup is the ultimate comfort food at its finest. Other than that, we found the ‘Yang Chow fried rice’ to be fairly consistent. In fact, “Silken Tofu in Hunan Sauce Signature” didn’t thrill us either, but if you like tofu, you can try it.
From the Italian menu we tried ‘Insalata Caprese’ with cheese ball. Although the dish looked quite appealing, the taste was quite normal. There’s also something on the table for those who are health conscious – the ‘quinoa salad with pickled asparagus and peppers’. The pickled bell pepper was delicious and gets a kick! Then we tried the classic margarita pizza – as they say you can’t go wrong with the classics – it fits here too.
The highlight of this gourmet expedition was the “Moment of melting chocolate with fried ice cream and signature orange crumble”. We absolutely loved how the chocolate dome melted away to reveal an orange crumble which itself had vanilla ice cream hidden inside. So if you have a sweet tooth, we highly recommend this dessert.
